Best bagels in town! Recommend trying the summer tomato bagel sammich while it's available. Raisin schmear is scrumptious on a toasted plain. Wouldn't complain if a cinnamon raisin bagel came around 😉 …
I miss the St Johns location so much, it’s worth the drive! Gotta get mama lil’s! Staff is always friendly and the bagels are always perfect! My favorite bagel in Portland!
Breakfast ⭐⭐
- did not like how the egg was done
Lox⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
- liked the one on 26 cafe more, something about the salmon here isn't 100 percent for me
- it's a standard lox tho! Just didn't absolutely blow my mind
Popper ⭐⭐⭐
- too salty for me
- didn't give amazing flavor, wish it was more jalapeno-y
Turkey crando ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- wish there was more cranberries but I adored this the most out of anything I've tried here

Garlic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Everything ⭐⭐⭐✨
$4 for a bagel and schmear. Probably my favorite bagel in Portland.
I honestly think these would stand up comparatively well with an east coast bagel. The dough is spot on, appropriately dense and crispy. Their only have non-traditional schmears, but they are pretty decent. And their schmears are somehow frothed, airy, which no other bagel shop in Portland does
I had a pdx bagel off with friends today, where we pulled in the city’s “top 4” shops. Bernstein’s easily won for taste. It was also 50¢-$1 cheaper than the major alternatives plus weighed the most. So, it won on quality, quantity, and price, best bagel and best schmear.
When I stopped by at about 11:15am on a Saturday they had nearly sold out of bagels.
Outstanding! I’d call this bagel perfection right here in Portand. And that is coming from a Jersey girl so I have very high bagel standards
I was so excited to try these bagels! Got there 10 minutes before closing and door was locked. Someone from inside came to open door to me only to tell me they were sold out. Considering how far I had to drive to check this place out and reading other reviews of the same, I won't waste anymore time.
i really liked my sesame bagel with chive cream cheese here- the bagel was perfectly chewy and the cream cheese had a good ratio. The space is cozy inside and offers outdoor seating as well. Street parking.
The one thing I would change is I think it’s a big mistake for a place like this to continue a (classist) pandemic practice of only taking cards- places that serve coffee and food for less than $5 should absolutely accept all forms of currency. Will update my review if this policy changes to be more accessible.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Their bagels are out of this world amazing. Everyone I take here is always blown away. But then just as I thought it couldn’t get any better, their staff was so awesome and participated in a treasure hunt I planned for my boyfriend. You guys are the best and I can’t wait to come back again and again :) Thank you!!
